/ˈmɪskriənt/ (noun): a person who has done something wrong or unlawful. A person behaving badly.
We are eels on the grass in the hot hot sun, slithering desperately for the lake, finding only dwindling pools. Our bodies tire, our once-soft skin blisters and bursts as gills choke on air. Do not despair; this is from no moral failing. You cannot find the lake because it was taken from you. Bit by bit it was drained, poisoned, filled in for a carpark, petrol station, new subdivision. The next puddle isn’t far now, let’s go there together. If we make it I’ll buy you a drink.
